We heard the measures to the create the zone, incorporating around 60 streets, stretching from St Peters Street - Bluehouse Hill / Verulam Road - Verulamium Park will cost a fairly modest £50k. This area has been picked as the trial site in Hertfordshire for this approach to roadsafety. Good news...! Also the Times takes up the campaign for safer cycling after the serious injury to one their journalists:
and a good point, if cyclists are 2% of the traffic, then cycling initiatives should get at least 2% of the budget - £100m. January 2012Happy New Year!It's an exciting year in prospect, with the next '5 year Plan' for improvements for cyclists being published, the Green Ring route plan being finalised, and the construction of the cycle routes through Verulamium Park, leading to a revised NCN Route 6 through St Albans. |
